How to Insulate a Building
Thermal Insulation
Thermal insulation is a system that encompasses various applications to prevent heat loss in a building. Heat flows from a higher temperature to a lower temperature. Therefore, preventing heat loss prevents the outward flow of warm indoor air in winter and the inward flow of warm outdoor air in summer. A high level of energy savings is achieved through the thermal insulation system applied in buildings.
Types of Thermal Insulation for Buildings
Three methods are applied for thermal insulation. In panel cladding, thermal insulation boards made from various materials are applied to the walls. Choosing boards with more open pores between the thermal insulation boards allows the building to breathe. This prevents condensation moisture from forming inside. Another method is thermal insulation plasters. Another method is heat-insulating exterior paints. Exterior paints with thermal insulation properties, particularly preferred by owners of older buildings, provide about 30% insulation.
